Juveniles Sent to Prison for Life Have Reason for Hope for Re-Sentencing
Bryan Gowdy was recently quoted in an article written by The Florida Times Union. After a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling, at least 13 local defendants, who were children at the time of their offenses, will be up for re-sentencing. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled it is unconstitutional to incarcerate children for life without the chance of parole. Last month, the justices said this ruling was retroactive and any child sentenced to a mandatory life sentence prior to 2012 must be re-sentenced.
